Evonik Porphyrio moves to a new office in Leuven, Belgium. In the center of university city Leuven, just 15 minutes away from vibrant Brussels, the new working space reflects the growth ambitions of the company. Evonik Porphyrio provides software solutions based on big data, biostatistics and self-learning algorithms to improve and optimize poultry production.
Evonik Porphyrio has moved its global headquarters to a new location in Leuven, Belgium. The company rented three floors in “8 Hoog”, a building in close vicinity to Leuven city center and the train station. Porphyrio, a spin-off of KU Leuven university, has been acquired by Evonik Nutrition & Care in October 2018 to strengthen Evonik’s activities in Precision Livestock Farming.
“After years of continuous growth since the foundation of the company in 2013, we have been using the same office space in Herent, just outside of Leuven. As Porphyrio has since reached a more advanced stage of development, we have been looking for a larger and future-proof office. The newly renovated office in Leuven is more than we could have hoped for and we look at this new location as the start of the next chapter in the history of our fledgling business. The open working atmosphere and creativity corners fit our culture at Evonik Porphyrio very well”, says Kristof Mertens, CEO at Evonik Porphyrio.
The building has been refurbished with great care and transformed into a modern office with a beautiful view over the ancient city of Leuven and its landmarks. While open spaces encourage interaction, the company has also installed smaller, transparent, yet quiet cubicles for project teams and confidential meetings.

For the years to come, Evonik Porphyrio will continue hiring new talents to expand the team of animal scientists, data scientists and software developers: „Having three stories opens up new opportunities. We plan to grow into a group of up to 50 people over the next few years. We will use our new spacious office for client workshops and commercial trainings, but also for networking and social events in the Leuven community”, says Kristof Mertens.
